This is a home recording of the bombing of Hiroshima in Japan that took place on August 6, 1945. The report describes some of the event and mentions the origin for the name of the modified B-29 bomber, the Enola Gay. This was probably recorded from WMBD 1470 radio in Peoria, IL.
This video is far longer than Educational Video Group's video. SUMMARIZATION OF THE CLIP: President Harry Truman announced to the world that the atomic bomb was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, marking it the first time nuclear warfare was used. A U.S. warplane dropped a single bomb on Hiroshima and destroyed its usefulness to the enemy. Truman then cited a brief history that the Japanese began the war with the U.S. from the air at Pearl Harbor. With the atomic bomb, the U.S. added a new increase in destruction to supplement the growing power of its armed forces. Truman also stated that the atomic bombs were in production (in addition to making conventional weapons) and that more powerful forms were in development. Truman also gave information about the destructiveness of the a...

Who on Earth is exposed to the most ionizing radiation? Check out Audible: http://bit.ly/AudibleVe I'm filming a documentary for TV about how Uranium and radioactivity have shaped the modern world. It will be broadcast in mid-2015, details to come. The filming took me to the most radioactive places on Earth (and some places, which surprisingly aren't as radioactive as you'd think). Chernobyl and Fukushima were incredible to see as they present post-apocalyptic landscapes. I also visited nuclear power plants, research reactors, Marie Curie's institute, Einstein's apartment, nuclear medicine areas of hospitals, uranium mines, nuclear bomb sites, and interviewed numerous experts. Notes about measuring radiation: Sieverts are a measure of 'effective dose' - that means they measure the biologi...

Krzysztof Penderecki Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima (1961) For 52 stringed instruments Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (Katowice) Antoni Wit, conductor Paintig: Ben Quilty, Lance Corporal M (detail), 2012 The appearance of Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima was a major event. The piece contained previously unheard means of powerful expression — explosive and liberating. By employing both known and unknown modes of articulation, Penderecki made strings sound akin to percussion and wind. He drew on two contrasting compositional techniques: the extreme freedom of aleatoricism and the exacting one of serialism. The series of sonorist events opens unexpectedly with a poignant cry in the highest possible register. It ushers in an orgy of hissing, 'noise' and rasps, played ...

Japan travel guide to what to do and eat in Miyajima, Hiroshima in a day! Hiroshima is near the bottom of the main island Honshu and a must visit when coming to Hiroshima is the island Itsukushima, more popularly known as Miyajima. It’s one of Japan’s top 3 scenic sights, most famous for its giant torii gate, which at high tide seems to float on the water. Miyajima island is also a great place for a day trip from the Kansai region like Kyoto and Osaka but I would recommend staying in Hiroshima for a few days to explore Hiroshima city and another day for Miyajima island. I started my trip off at Hiroshima station and took a 25 minute train ride to JR Miyajima-guchi station. From there it’s less than a 5 minute walk to the ferry terminal where you will take a 10 minute ferry ride to go t...

Hiroshima's okonomiyaki is its best known regional specialty. A savoury layered "pancake" of noodles, cabbage, pork and many other ingredients, it's a must-try for any visitor to the city. In this episode I visit Yagenbori Hassho - known to locals as the famous "Blue Hassho" - which many say is the city's best, and learn how to eat okonomiyaki like a Hiroshima local.

Visiting Hiroshima Peace Park and Museum - a day trip from Kyoto on the bullet train to Hiroshima and Miyajima. Japan vlog about visiting Hiroshima. We saw the A-Bomb Dome, which is where the world's first atomic bomb was dropped, and the Peace Park and Peace Museum. See what it's like on the shinkansen bullet train between Kyoto and Miyajima. The Peace Museum isn't an easy place to look round, but I'm glad we went. I didn't film too much inside the museum because it didn't seem appropriate, and it feels strange being there as a tourist destination. The Peace Park is lovely, with the paper cranes, sculptures and memorials. After visiting Hiroshima we went on to Miyajima, which was one of the most beautiful places we visited. It's a good day trip from Kyoto with your Japan Rail Pass - you...

Hiroshima today, Japan tours 2016 - Tourist attractions in Hiroshima, Japan - Trip to Hiroshima, Japan Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube To most people, Hiroshima means just one thing. The city's name will forever evoke thoughts of 6 August 1945, when Hiroshima became the target of the world's first atomic-bomb attack. Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park is a constant reminder of that day, and it attracts visitors from all over the world. But leafy Hiroshima, with its wide boulevards and laid-back friendliness, is a far from depressing place. Present-day Hiroshima is home to a thriving and internationally minded community, and it's worth spending a couple of nights here to experience the city at its vibrant best. Atomic Bomb D...

Why We Don’t Kill Women and Children in War - President Obama visits the Hiroshima war memorial, and calls for a moral evolution. We contrast three worldviews here: the Democrat worldview, the Republican worldview, and our worldview. We dust off the old “just war” theory from Western Christian history and go after the scorched earth approach to warfare that got its start with. . . you guessed it . . .William Tecumseh Sherman. The general had choice words for the blacks, and is well known for encouraging the extermination of the Plains Indians. If God’s law provides anything, it provides a definition between good and evil. http://democracynow.org - Seventy years ago today, at 8:15 in the morning, the U.S. dropped the world’s first atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Destruction from the bomb was massive. Shock waves, radiation and heat rays took the lives of some 140,000 people. Three days later, the U.S. dropped a second atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Nagasaki, killing another 74,000. President Harry Truman announced the attack on Hiroshima in a nationally televised address on August 6, 1945. Today, as the sun came up in Hiroshima, tens of thousands began to gather in Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park to commemorate the world’s first nuclear attack. We are joined by the acclaimed Japanese novelist and winner of the 1994 Nobel Prize for Literature, Kenzaburo Oe, whose books address political an...

Also, Fuku decontamination efforts are becoming more futile, and nuke plants in the US are being closed due to money problems. Also, a rant about the MSM from you tube in response to the 'crazy conspiracy' rant from Anderson Cooper... WARNING GRAPHIC language!! (last 5 min) Thanks Ian you were a great job shadower :)
